
Prof. Amida Sholan is a professor and leading scholar in Semitic languages, ancient Arabic scripts, and southern Arabian history.
She earned her Ph.D. in Semitic languages from the University of Marburg, Germany, and quickly became a reference for leading academics like Walter Wilhelm Müller and Norbert Nebes. Since 1999, she has been affiliated with Sana'a University, progressing from assistant professor to full professor in archaeology and ancient languages by 2012. Between 2008 and 2012, she served in a cultural role at Yemen’s Embassy in Berlin before resuming her academic career.
Prof. Sholan’s contributions to scholarship include numerous peer-reviewed publications in Arabic, English, and German, addressing topics such as linguistics, ancient scripts, lexicons, and southern Arabian archaeology and culture. She is a regular participant in international scientific conferences and is actively involved in archaeological excavations, focusing on documenting and scientifically studying historical artifacts and inscriptions.
Through her academic and cultural roles, Prof. Sholan has significantly advanced the understanding of southern Arabian civilizations and contributed to the preservation and interpretation of its rich heritage.
